Common questions about working with our firm
When should I contact a lawyer?
Earlier than most people think. Quebec's general prescription period gives you three years for most civil claims, but the positions taken in early letters and conversations shape everything that follows. A short consultation before you sign, respond, or escalate can save many times its cost later.
What is the cost of a consultation with our Montreal law firm?
Our junior consultation rate is $275, and a consultation with Me Eidelmann is $450, plus taxes in both cases. During the consultation we review your situation, identify the deadlines and recourses that apply, and give you a frank assessment of your options, so you leave knowing exactly where you stand.
What areas of law does your firm handle?
We practise business law, contract law, real estate law, labour and employment law, litigation, debt collection, shareholder disputes, and commercial lease matters. You can browse our full range of legal services, or simply call and describe your situation: we will tell you plainly whether it is something we handle.
Do you work in both English and French?
Yes. We are fully bilingual and handle files, correspondence, and court appearances in either official language, in whichever your matter requires. Many of our files involve documents and parties in both.
Can you act in Ontario as well as Quebec?
Yes. Me Adam Eidelmann is licensed to practise in both Quebec and Ontario, so cross-border disputes, contracts, and recoveries stay with one firm instead of being referred out partway through.
What makes you different from other law firms in Montreal?
Among Montreal law firms, ours is unusual in one specific way: our founder is an entrepreneur as well as a litigator. Of the litigation law firms Montreal offers, few weigh the economics of your case the way an owner would before recommending a strategy. We examine the costs, the realistic outcomes, and the business consequences first, and we aim to avoid unnecessary legal costs. When a matter must be fought, we fight it vigorously.
